Use feedly to find events by companies you use

Do you use a ton of services at work? As an online marketer I use Apple, Bitly, Google Chrome, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, Twitter, Return Path, Ginger Labs (maker of Notability), and WooThemes. At home I use Feedly, EvernoteFlipboard, Last.fmNetflixDropboxToodledo, Adium, Comixology, Delicious, FoursquareSpotify, and Zite.

#takeadeepbreath That’s a lot of services! I like to keep up to date on what they are doing–especially when they have events in Chicago. In an RSS reader like feedly, you can create a folder with all the feeds from these blogs. Now you can stay current with the services you use.

search-chicago-in-services-i-useIf you’d like to know if a particular event is upcoming, use the search box in feedly to find any mentions of your city or state. In the screenshot example on the right, there was only one result–not an event. But you can bet that I saved this search as a bookmark to check regularly.

I might set up a Google Custom Search Engine to do the same thing.

How do you discover events from companies you follow? Email? Twitter? Facebook?
