Every week on Tuesday at 11am CST #ideaschat has an hour-long chat with a new topic. This week’s topic was about storytelling. Question #3 was “What makes for a great storyteller?” Thirteen people gave some great responses.
Vulnerability, honesty, wit, ability to captivate, telling the right story at the right time, honesty, passion, live first & write later, the message must have impact, finding your audience, connecting with your audience, and authenticity, raw Authenticity, and conflict.
Here’s the original tweets:

A3: A storyteller can be almost anything, but the message must have impact. It’s not really a story if no one listens, right?
#ideaschat— Blueye Creative(@BlueyeCreative) August 21, 2012
@chicagoideas I think it is in fact a story if no one listens. Finding your audience is just as key as the story itself#ideaschat— Anthony Roberts (@AntTheWriter) August 21, 2012
@chicagoideas A3: Passion and authenticity#ideaschat— AJ Livsey (@clevahgrrl) August 21, 2012
A3-Conflict. Tho it’s too bad we don’t find happy scenes as compelling as conflict. Romantic comedies wld be a 90-minute act 1.
