The best explanation of why the ePub format for ebooks is seriously flawed: “The publishing industry has a problem, and EPUB is not the solution” by Jani Patokallio. I have to say most of it is right on.
This article makes me ask many questions. If epubs are geared for publishers and not readers, what is the platform for readers? The HTML5 Internet on tablets? How can someone save a web page with his/her highlights and notes? How can one share their thoughts on specific parts of a blog post? How can we preserve a webpage in a static format that won’t change and forever make that version available?
