Is Chrome the new generic word for internet browser?

Microsoft calls all internet browsers “Chrome.”

Today Microsoft popped up a warning that my Office has a critical bug and needs an update. Conceding to update right now, the installer asks me to close Outlook and Chrome. I figure, ok, I can close Chrome, because I can still work in Firefox. However, when I click ok, the installer quites Firefox as well.

Maybe Microsoft has given up on the browser wars and now just calls all browsers as “Chrome”
